New Monobloc
In this project, everyone is assigned to purchase the same chair model in the same color. Each participant must then use their own methods to transform the chair, giving it a new aesthetic that enhances its perceived value while maintaining durability. Participants have 10 days to design and create their final piece.
Beyond refining personal taste, design style, and the story behind their creation, this project helps develop the ability to elevate the value of everyday objects through form, color, texture, and material.
This New Monobloc chair is inspired by the concept of plastic surgery, applied to a plastic chair. First, the chair is carefully cut and reshaped to resemble the physique of a woman. The transformation is completed with a base coat, a matte color coat, a sealer, and finishing touches using spray paint—similar to applying makeup.
