SEA SAND SUN SALA
Part of Thailand Biennale 2025 in Phuket
29 November 2025 - 30 April 2026

A reimagined tropical paradise, a site of transformation. Here, sea, sand, and sun exist in continual negotiation—between erosion and construction, reclaiming and offering, extraction and regeneration.

SEA SAND SUN SALA explores the beachside material narratives of Phuket, framing seawater, sand, and sunlight not merely as picturesque elements but as resources and transformative agencies. The exhibition interrogates how these coastal forces behave through a series of installations, revealing how natural processes are not incidental but integral to the formation of new possibilities.

Waves is a site-responsive installation that transforms the tidal rhythms of Nai Harn Beach into shifting sand formations. Using a Chladni plate embedded in a sand mound, the work vibrates in response to analog frequencies derived from real-time field recordings of the shoreline. As the sea’s rise and fall modulate the vibrations, sand particles gather into ephemeral patterns—visual echoes of the geological forces that shape the beach. It is a living interface between sound, matter, and coastal motion.
