Super Slow Workshop
Build Your Basket, Blend Tradition, and Play !
An immersive exhibition and workshop celebrating craftsmanship, creativity, and cultural heritage, this program arises from field research on the skills of communities in Chiang Mai, leading to a collaboration with the Sri Ket Elderly Weaving Community and Mae Hom, a master fabric artist. It brings together traditional bamboo weaving and fabric artistry, connecting these crafts through the creation of new baskets, with the collaborative involvement of participants in the workshop.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with a variety of natural materials, including cotton, yarn, rope, and hand-woven fabrics, transforming them through techniques such as dyeing, spray painting, embroidery, and weaving. This hands-on experience allows each person to design and craft their own personalized basket, blending traditional bamboo weaving with contemporary design.
Guided by Mae Hom, who teaches traditional fabric arts, along with designers who apply modern techniques, participants will sketch their ideas, select materials, and explore innovative ways to bring their visions to life. This workshop celebrates the beauty of handmade artistry, the spirit of innovation, and the power of cross-community collaboration.
