Nowadays, local traditional craftsmanship keeps getting further away from us and is starting to disappear from everyday modern life, especially for traditional Thai instruments. Usually, long drums or what we call “Klong Yao” is used for traditional celebrations or small gatherings in Thai villages. The drums are crafted with specific skills such as woodturning, rope knotting, Leather strapping and pegging to create these traditional drums. From observing, learning local techniques and wisdom, we experimented and exchange ideas with the locals to utilise all the skills and aspects to create a products that will blend with everyday life, that will captures the craftsmanship and characteristics of traditional Thai drums.
